New Beaver Lodge

As late fall approaches beaver typically have a huge food pile in front of their lodge ready for the long winter. This beaver family constructed a new lodge in front of the Border Patrol Office in Grand Marais this fall.

In the Cross, Temperance and Cascade Rivers the salmon spawn amongst the rocks in the shallow water near the river mouths. I photographed this salmon as the noonday sun shone into the water.
