I also checked an eagle’s nest located at the Indian Lake boat landing just north of Two Harbors. The pair was taking turns sitting on the eggs.

It appears as though the eagles are doing fine in the cold weather.

I saw a pair of wild turkeys north of Two Harbors. It seems like turkeys are moving further north each year.

Lake Superior Loon 001

It has been a really cold week. It seems like the warm weather just won’t come. Some of the inland lakes still have a foot and a half of ice on them. The migrating loons are finding the only open water is on Lake Superior.

I love the patterns in the feathers. I am sure these loons will head inland soon.

I saw two different loons on the big lake this week. One came pretty close to me as it was fishing along the shoreline.
