Jacob said he would go the next morning. I decided to go to Silver Cliff and Jacob wanted to go to the spot on Burlington Bay that I had photographed the previous morning. I told him we would go our separate ways and see who got the best photo. Jacob won. Here is Jacob’s image.Burlington Bay Sunrise 1
That evening I asked another friend, Steve Van Kekerix, and his son, Jacob, if they wanted to photograph a sunrise with me the next morning and we planned to meet at 5:15 a.m. Jacob had trained hard at soccer camp that day so when 5:00 a.m. rolled around he wasn’t about to get out of bed. I had to go without them. It turned out to be one of the most beautiful sunrises of the summer. I photographed it from just off of Burlington Bay in Two Harbors. I gave Jacob a hard time afterwards for not getting up.Mosquito Creek 1
Karla worked in Two Harbors four days this week so we took the tent trailer and camped in Burlington Bay campground. I needed some photos of the backcountry of Tettegouche State Park for a project that I am working on so I asked our friend, Jenny, and her two girls, Kate and Ruby, if they wanted to join me. We hiked 1½ miles into Mic Mac Lake where we canoed around the lake and up Mosquito Creek.Northern Lights
After we returned home we heard that there was going to be northern lights that evening. I got up at 1:00 a.m. and looked out the window. The sky was shimmering with waves of green passing overhead. I set the tripod up in front of our lower pond and photographed our house reflected in the pond with the northern lights above. It was a great way to end a wonderful week on the North Shore.
