George Washington State Forest

We have had several days of frost and snow that has covered the trees making the woods picturesque. I took a trip up to the George Washington State Forest where there is a beautiful grove of pine. Snowshoeing through a pine forest is a great way to spend an afternoon.

You might even come across an ermine also called a short-tailed weasel.

Ermine are curious critters darting out of holes in the snow. Their fur turns white in the winter so they are pretty camouflaged.

They move through tunnels under the snow in search of mice.
