Ice Sculpture 001

During this week’s storm they put out a “Heavy Freezing Spray Warning”. That means danger for boaters but ice sculptures for photographers. This little tree was completely covered with ice. The blue background is out of fucus waves coming into shore.

Several of the trees and bushes were covered with ice. Little branches like these could never hold this much ice if you put it on all at once. Several thin layers of spray added over time supports itself.

We still have from two to three feet of snow in the woods making for beautiful conditions to get outside. This old white pine stump is still standing after the fires that occurred in the early 1900’s.

After the rains this week and dropping temperatures, snowshoes hardly sink at all in three feet of snow.
