It was another beautiful evening watching the moon ascend in front of the cliff by Split Rock Lighthouse.

The February Full Moon is called the “Snow Moon”. I did have to scramble down a snowy bank in order to capture this image of the moon directly behind the light. The moon moves fast enough that I only got one photo that lined up.

I moved a little farther up the shoreline to take this shot. The moon doesn’t rise straight up but at quite an angle going to the right.

After the moon got higher it started to burn out in the photo but still made for a memorable scene. It was such a nice night with temperatures in the twenties that there were a few dozen other photographers and visitors enjoying the evening.
