Mississippi Beach
We spent the week on the Mississippi Coast. Most of the coast is bayou country but we did find some white sand beaches.

There are lots of coastal birds. This fishing pier was under reconstruction so the birds took it over.

We camped at Shepard State Park which is a beautiful little piece of land covered in pines and surrounded by bayou.

They had a nice boardwalk that went for about a quarter mile into the marshland.

Great Blue Heron
Came across this great blue heron that seemed to be cooling off along the shore. I haven’t seen a blue heron do this before.

There were lots of brown pelicans.

Several osprey nests were in the area. Some in trees.

Shrimp boats would come in with their daily catch.

Live Oak 001
One of our fresh seafood stops was Aunt Jenny’s Catfish House. Along with good seafood. It was surrounded with 500-year-old Live Oaks.
