Pine Marten 001

Our resident pine marten passed through this week. I think it is a new one though since this one has more orange fur on its chest. Each pine marten has a distinct shape in the colors on its chest and this one I think is prettier than most.

Pine marten are one of my favorite animals to photograph in the boreal forest in winter. When they are in a tree, they will let you get pretty close. They have such a cute face. Pine Marten are hard not to like but are fierce hunters and you don’t want them to get into your garage.

Red Fox

Our resident red fox also passed by this weekend. Looks like it is denning up under our garden shed so I think we will see lots of this one over the winter. Two of our granddaughters were here for the weekend. They were anticipating seeing one or the other but just saw the tracks in the snow and the red foxes den..
