The forecast was for onshore winds Monday morning so by sunrise the waves started to build.

It is always enjoyable watching waves explode against the shoreline.

By late afternoon the wind had died down but not the waves. With the lack of wind, you could stand close to the shore without getting covered by spray. In this photo with the Sawtooth Mountains in the background a huge wave collided with the point west of the Grand Marais Rec Area Campground. Water was turned into projectiles shooting up into the air.
