Karla and I took a drive up to Hollow Rock just south of Grand Portage. Hollow Rock is a pretty little island just a few feet off shore. The moon was just setting as I got ready to photograph the sunrise.

The light from the rising sun coming through the hollow in Hollow Rock was impressive.

You can see the icicles that formed during the last storm.

Lots of fun shapes in the melting ice along the shore.

The holes were formed from beach rock that absorbed more of the sun’s heat so that they melted out of the ice.
