Pine Marten 001

I started to wash dishes after lunch and looked up to see a pine marten on the roof of the garage. This is the first pine marten we have seen since last winter. I was curious why it was on the roof but then saw a squirrel headed for the woods. Squirrels are pine marten’s main food source.

The marten dropped onto our car and slid down the windshield. It looked like it had just found a new game to play but I think the squirrel was its main target.

After the squirrel disappeared the marten went back on the roof and just waited. Ten minutes passed before it headed into the woods in the same direction as the squirrel.
