Woodcock Eggs

A friend of ours found a woodcock nest so I hiked in to get some photos but it looks like the ten days of rain that we had has caused the mom to leave the nest. Sometimes ground nests do get washed out from excessive rain.

Mallards

The mallards have returned to the ponds. It is interesting to see them standing on one foot. They do this to reduce muscle fatigue and cut down on heat loss in cooler weather. It must take some balance though.
