The Cascades 001

We had almost two inches of rain in the last few days and it has brought the water levels up in the North Shore Rivers. This series of waterfalls are what they call the Cascades in Cascade River State Park.

Karla and I hiked up to photograph them on a foggy afternoon. It was one beautiful view after another.

The Cascades are just a short hike up the river and well worth the trip.

Chaser 001

Another exciting outdoor adventure with our neighborhood marten, Chaser. I was looking out the window watching some birds along with a red squirrel when I see Chaser coming through the woods. The red squirrel didn’t see him until he got to within 20 feet. The squirrel gives out a loud shriek and runs to the top of the tree with Chaser in pursuit.

Chaser starts chasing the squirrel around the tree. But the squirrel is pretty fast.

After about the fifth time around the tree the red squirrel jumps out from one of the branches and Chaser decides to give up.

Chaser lets me get some nice photos as he comes back down.

There is an animal eye focus on my Sony camera that allows you to get really sharp images if everything comes together. It was another fun experience with Chaser. Now that I took the bird feeders down for the summer I probably won’t see Chaser again until next winter.
