Whitetail Buck 001

Since this is the opening of Deer Hunting I thought I would share some of the bigger whitetail that I have photographed over the years. This whitetail lived to a grey old age avoiding hunters by heading into a grassy lowland area just below the visitor center at Gooseberry Falls State Park every hunting season.

On different occasions I would see him lying in the grass not far from a hiking trail. It was interesting to see park visitors walk right by him not noticing his antlers sticking above the grass. This fellow provided me with a lot of entertainment.

I came across this nice whitetail while driving down a side road. He blended in to his surroundings pretty good.

I walked up on this whitetail in the Two Harbors campground after it was closed for the season. Notice the size of his neck. When they are in rut their neck can get huge.

This whitetail was gifted with a beautiful set of antlers.

After photographing this whitetail for several days one fall in the city Limits of Two Harbors someone shot it illegally and the antlers now hang on the DNR’s wall of shame at various Sport Shows.
