Thursday evening was this months Full Moon called the “Flower Moon” even though this year we don’t have many flowers up yet. Thick clouds most of the day made me think that the moon wasn’t going to show. Fortunately, it cleared just enough that the moon not only showed but lit up the clouds like there was fire in the sky.

It couldn’t have been more beautiful. This month was also another "Super Moon" as the moon was closer to earth.

I moved over to capture it on the other side of the Grand Marais light.

As the moon got brighter the surrounding clouds started to become outlined in pink.

I think this was one of the more colorful moonrises I have experienced.

For about three seconds the moon lined up right behind the light. I had to darken the moon a little in this photo so it wasn’t burned out and looked like what my eye was seeing.

As the moon rose higher in the sky it started to become overexposed but still made for an awesome photo with the patterns in the clouds. This is a fifteen second exposure making the moon a little elongated.

With everything going on in the world it was nice to experience such a peaceful evening.
