Red Squirrel 001

I was photographing this red squirrel in front of our house when our resident marten came out of a nearby hollow cedar tree. He jumped up on the log and by the time the squirrel saw him, the marten was within three feet.

I have never saw a squirrel jump so far and so fast. I thought the squirrel was toast but it actually got away. Outdoor entertainment at its finest.
