Yesterday I attended the lighting of the Split Rock Beacon in commemoration of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald in 1975.

Before turning on the beacon the staff rang the bell 29 times to honor each of the crew members that lost their lives on that stormy night while crossing Lake Superior.

If you look close in this photo to can see what looks like the spirit like images of two men standing next to the fence behind the crowd. This was caused by one person moving during the 5 second exposure.
