Sunset

This month’s full moon occurred on the same day as the spring equinox, marking the first day of spring! It is called the Full Worm Moon because the ground softens up and you start to see worms. It really doesn’t look like that’s the case this year from the view over the Grand Marais Harbor with its ice and snow. The clouds made for a great sunset but they were thick enough that the moon never did shine through.

The next morning, I got up early to watch the moon set across the harbor.

As the sun started to break through it turned the sky pink.

When I turned around to head back to the car the sunrise caught my eye.

It was clear the following night so I photographed the moon one more time as it appeared over a cloud bank on the horizon. The moon arose about an hour after sunset so it was pretty dark out the second night.
