A friend of mine took a photo of this old logging dam on Devil Track Lake a while back so when it looked like we were going to have a great sunset earlier this week I headed up to photograph the same unique spot. The sunset was exceptional and I was glad I was in the right place at the right time.
Grand Marais Harbor
We got to spend some time with two of our granddaughter’s this weekend. One morning Silje and I shared some great moments on the beach watching the sunlight create thousands of diamonds on the surface of Lake Superior. She also found a couple of heart shaped rocks to give her mom.
Wood Frog
While checking our garden, to her surprise and excitement Silje walked into a wood frog migration. We had thousands of wood frogs hatch in our pond this spring and now the tiny youngsters are spreading out into the woods looking for places to hibernate. Wood frogs bury themselves in the leaf litter and up to 60% of their body freezes only to thaw out again come spring. It is another miracle of life.
Silje was so excited seeing all the frogs that she picked up about a dozen to examine up close. Before putting down the last one she said “I think this frog wants to get out of my slimy hand”.
