Oberg Mountain 001
We hiked Oberg Mountain with relatives from Kansas. Oberg Mountain is one of the best hiking trails along the North Shore for seeing the fall colors.
Oberg Mountain 002
Oberg is in the heart of the Sawtooth Mountains surrounded with maple ridges. There is a little marsh next to Oberg Lake that have had moose frequent in past years.
Oberg Mountain 003
When the clouds cleared the blue of Oberg Lake really stood out.
Oberg Mountain 004
We were not alone on the trail as many people took advantage of the nice weather to enjoy the fall colors.
Oberg Mountain 005
The foliage on the Lake Superior side of Oberg is still mainly green and should turn in the next two weeks.
Oberg Mountain 006
The red of the maples contrasted with the blue of Lake Superior can be pretty impressive.
Oberg Mountain 007
This is probably one of the most photographed spots on Oberg Mountain.
Oberg Mountain 008
Some of the trees were remarkably red.
Passing rain showers produced a beautiful rainbow over Caribou Lake on our way back.
Wave Watching 001
We had two days of small craft warnings for the North Shore. As you can see from these waves at Tettegouche State Park, you wouldn’t want to be out there in a small craft.
Wave Watching 002
After the wind went down it was a great time to sit on the shore and watch the waves crashing into the rocks.
