Lake Superior Waves
This week two storms cast a lot of spray onto the shoreline.
Artist Point 001
The unseasonable low temperatures caused that spray to freeze on many of the trees and shrubs.

This one looks like a dragon.
Artist Point 003
Many ice sculptures covered the shoreline.
Artist Point 004
Even the smallest branches were covered with many pounds of ice.
Artist Point 005
This spruce tree was one of my favorite spots to photograph the ice.
Artist Point 006
The morning temps hovered at zero which created sea smoke that looked like an approaching storm.

The next day the sunrise was pretty awesome.
Artist Point 008
The ice lasted for about three days before warmer temperatures melted it away.

I crawled under a cedar tree to shoot up into the branches. It is amazing that these soft cedar branches can hold a lot of ice without breaking which is only because they are coated a little at a time.
