Karla and I went camping on a little lake south of Duluth. Both days were calm and the lake was like glass. Along with kayaking we did some swimming, fishing and just relaxing in the outdoors.
You get to see a lot of interesting features and wildlife when kayaking close to the shoreline. Weathered stumps always grab my attention. Under the right light they can make a great photograph. This one has one little white flower that draws your eye into the photo.
Cumulus clouds started to form. These were exceptionally interesting as they look like little creatures. The left one looks like it is chasing something. The middle one looks like a rabbit running and the right one looks like it is blowing smoke.
I never knew that water lilies close their petals and go into a sleep mode for the evening until I started to photograph them. By about 4:00 PM they can go from what you saw in the last photo to this. After the sun comes out the next morning they open again.
On the way home there was rain over Lake Superior. When we pulled into the overlook above Split Rock Lighthouse the sun peaked through illuminating the light station.
