High winds have now taken most of the leaves off the trees but not before Karla and I made a trip to Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. We stopped at the Highway 61 wayside overlooking the lighthouse.

It was one of those beautiful afternoons where the fall colors, puffy clouds and blue skies reminded me of what our granddaughter frequently says, “This is just a wonderful day”.

The only thing bluer than the sky was the surface of Lake Superior.

We hiked down to the lakeshore to watch the waves crash along the rocks.

A larger wave hit this small fissure about every 10 minutes, which caused the water to explode upward.

There were several visitors sitting along the shoreline taking it the view.

Below the lighthouse one small bush turns red each year giving an extra splash of color to the photo.
