I thought we were going to have awesome fall colors but it must have been too warm for too long. Certain trees and areas had good color but overall the leaves were not as vibrant as most years. One spot that had some nice yellows was Thompson Lake outside of Grand Marais.

Karla and I hiked up to Caribou Rock, which looks down on West Bearskin Lake. The timing couldn’t have been better. The lake was beautiful.

At Jay Cooke State Park only the sumac had turned a vibrant red.

We went to Bayfield for apples and the sumac was just as colorful there.

We found a few young maples that looked pretty mixed with green leaves that had not yet turned.
