Last week, one of the news reporters from WDIO Channel 10 out of Duluth asked if they could follow me around one day while I photographed fall colors. We hiked into Tettegouche State Park. Tettegouche Lake overlook is one of my favorite remote spots along the North Shore. Lake Superior can be seen in the saddle along the far ridge.

I also like the contrast of the red of the sugar maples next to the pines.

There were northern lights for two nights last week. I drove to an inland lake and just as I arrived the clouds moved in. Notice the goose in the lower right corner that swam toward the dock. He surprised me as much as I surprised him. There is only one goose but he stopped long enough in two places for the camera to pick up his silhouette twice.

As the clouds thickened and covered the aurora, I decided to take a long exposure letting the clouds move along the photo creating motion blur. The lake was so calm that even in this 60 second exposure there wasn’t even a ripple on the lake. The fog over the water added to the beauty of the evening.
