Red Fox

Even with the recent four inches of fresh snow spring is in the air. I came across this red fox as it was searching for breakfast along one of the back roads. Since this is mating season for red fox they have been marking their territory with a scent that smells a lot like skunk. I have come across this scent in several places while hiking.

They are one of the more approachable birds that we have on the North Shore.

The blue jays also seem more active.

With the warmer weather we are also seeing a lot more bald eagles.

Today Karla and I saw 6 bald eagles along HWY 61 between Silver Bay and home.
