Melting Sun 001
I didn’t get to photograph the eclipse because of cloud cover but I did get to see the sun have a meltdown due to the stress of the event.

Actually a melting sun like this is a mirage caused by warm air over Lake Superior’s surface. The water vapor turns earth’s atmosphere into a lens, refracting the rays of the rising sun and distorting it.

You get to see an inverted sun beneath the “real” one.

When it gets above the intense water vapor the distortion is gone.
