Karla and I are travelling out west. First stop was Theodore Roosevelt National Park. This was our first view. There is a buffalo in the middle of this photo but it is pretty hard to see.

We got a lot closer to the buffalo as we did the circle wildlife drive in the interior of the park.

Karla took this photo of the setting sun lighting up the side of this huge bull. This guy was a loner. You can tell he is old and probably has been in many fights.

There are many signs saying to not approach the wildlife. This guy’s look tells you the same thing.

Buffalo have very small eyes compared to their size.

We came across a buffalo traffic jam. You only move as fast as they do.

This bull was feeding in a prairie dog town.

Just behind the buffalo was these two coyotes trying to catch an unsuspecting prairie dog.

The prairie dogs all escaped down their burrows.

This coyote tried to use the horses to distract the prairie dogs as he tried to sneak up on them. It didn’t work.

Two of the wild stallions started to do battle.

They got pretty wild, as they would kick each other. Just after I took this photo the smaller one turned and kicked the larger one in the ribs with its back feet. That ended the fight as the larger one ran off.

This was Teddy Roosevelt’s cabin that he lived in while learning to love the outdoors.

We stopped at Devil’s Tower National Monument.

Rising up out of the plain at over 300 feet it is an awesome wonder to see.

There were three teams of climbers that were trying to make it to the top while we were there.

We found these two fawns on one of the trails in the park. They seemed pretty little for this time of year.

Oregon Trail Ruts Historic Site 001

The Oregon Trail Ruts Historic site in Wyoming is an interesting place to see.

To my knowledge it is the only spot where tracks from the covered wagons of early settlers traveling the Oregon Trail are still preserved.

Just imagine how many wagons had to cross this ridge in order to wear down the sandstone to this depth

This was an interesting tree along side the wagon tracks.

Register Cliff Historic Site

Just down the road from the tracks is Register Cliffs where many of the early travelers carved their names in the rock.
