The forecast on Spaceweather.com indicated a possibility of some nice aurora this week. I set the alarm for midnight. When it sounded I looked out the window and saw a green glow. I drove to a near-by lake. The mirror-like calm water reflected the shimmering glow of the aurora. There was enough fog to make the photo even more interesting.

I stopped at Cutface Wayside on Highway 61 before heading home. The view of the rising moon over Grand Marais was pretty impressive.
The aurora continued for four more days but cloudy skies and rain blocked any chance of being able to see them. The next two months are traditionally a great time of year to see Northern Lights along the North Shore.
