The birch and aspen trees along the shoreline of Lake Superior turn yellow and gold after the maple trees drop their leaves.

A friend and I spent a pleasant afternoon photographing the beautiful colors along the shoreline at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. It had just rained so the little pools in the bedrock were full which made awesome reflections.

There is a bush below the lighthouse that always turns red later than the others. It was ablaze with color on this gorgeous afternoon.

Gooseberry Falls State Park (Middle Falls)

We stopped at Gooseberry Falls State Park just before sunset. Above Middle Falls, the low angle of the sun caused this aspen to light up.

Gooseberry Falls State Park (Upper Falls)

The Upper Falls was at a low level, however, with the gold of the aspen and the blue of Lake Superior, it made a great photo opportunity.
