Rosebush Creek
With all the recent rain we have received the rivers are really high. Even the smaller ones like the Rosebush Creek have a good flow.

The Cascades
This series of waterfalls is called the Cascades. They are located about a quarter mile up the Cascade River.

Lower Cascade Falls 001
The view of the first waterfalls located just off the highway was beginning to be blocked by a leaning cedar tree.

I went back the next day and the leaning tree was gone. All that was there was the broken off stump.

Broken Cedar
Just downstream, it was lodged against a huge boulder. If it breaks loose, it will be out into Lake Superior so boaters should beware.

Fiddleheads
Just across from the downed tree I discovered these fiddleheads. Fiddleheads are furled fronds of young ferns. These are ostrich ferns. Each fiddlehead will unroll into a new frond. They made a good subject for a close-up macro photo.
