At this time of year baby animals are just about everywhere. There is a fox den located along Hwy 61 just outside of Grand Marais. There are four kits in the den and it takes a lot of patience to see them. They come out of the den about every four hours so timing is everything. I was fortunate, as I only had to wait about two hours to get these photos.

I was not able to get all four kits together in a photo at the same time.

The kits are playful. One started licking the other one’s nose.

Then another one started punching its sibling.

The punched kit appears to be calling for mom’s help.

All of the kits darted in and out of the den’s entrance for about 15 minutes before then disappearing.
