Aurora Borealis 001

Northern Minnesota had another night of beautiful northern lights. I awoke at 1:30 AM and looked out the window to see the green sky. The aurora borealis was active and putting on a show. First I photographed the aurora reflected in our pond.

Our neighbor just built a new barn and it is in a perfect spot to be surrounded by northern lights. All of a sudden the sky exploded in color. It was one of the best displays of aurora this year.

Green, yellow, pink and purple colors danced across the sky. I used my headlamp to light up the barn.

The metal reflected so much light that it appeared the barn was painted into the scene.

One more stop to make and I hoped the aurora would continue a little longer. I drove to the boat landing on Caribou Lake. The lake was like glass with a thin layer of fog. Only one photo was taken before the aurora started to fade with the early morning sunlight.
