Since Karla is part Irish we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with supper at the Cascade Lodge Restaurant and Pub. Wild Mountain Thyme, an Irish band consisting of our friends Michelle, Jack & Maria are all excellent musicians and the evening was spent enjoying amazing Irish music and food.
On the way home the sky turned green for St. Patrick’s Day. A huge geomagnetic storm produced some amazing auroras. It was reported to be the most impressive display since 2008. Northern lights could be seen as far south as Kansas. The red barn at the neighbor’s farm was an excellent addition to the northern lights.St. Patrick's Day aurora over Grand Marais 001
At the Cutface Creek wayside on Highway 61, calm Lake Superior waters produced beautiful reflections. The night sky over Grand Marais was lit with ribbons of green, yellow and red. Could it be another reason that Grand Marais was voted as the Coolest Small Town in America?
