The fall colors have begun along the interior ridges of the North Shore. Some of the maples are the most vibrant red that I have seen in several years.

This appears as though it will be a good year for fall colors. The North Shore received the right amount of moisture and sunshine to bring out the best of the colors this year.

It will be approximately another week before the colors peak; however, the back roads are well worth the drive now.

This evening I hiked into Lake Agnes located just west of the Caribou Trail.

The one-mile hike along the Superior Hiking Trail leads to an overlook giving a breathtaking view of the lake.

Even the water lilies are turning red.
