Read MoreGrand Marais Storm 001
We had two strong storms last week. Southwest winds from one of the storms created huge waves along the shoreline in front of Grand Marais. I found a spot on Artist Point where I could keep the camera out of the spray and still take photos of the waves as they collided with the break wall.
American Century 001
The northwest winds and cold temperatures were enough to cover the ore boats with ice. Most boats took the northern route that passes Isle Royale and Grand Marais to avoid the largest waves on their way to Duluth. Normally they stay near the south shore and Wisconsin. I took this photo of the American Century as it came into the Duluth harbor.
