Bald Eagle Grand Marais Harbor 001

Whenever I drive into Grand Marais I try to make it down to the harbor to check for wildlife. I am very seldom disappointed, as the area seems to always have some critters of interest. This last week was no different. Karla and I brought the car in for an oil change and took a detour down to the harbor. The first thing we see is a beautiful bald eagle sitting on the top of one of the trees in the campground.

We watched it for about five minutes before it lifted off and sailed right over the car.

I am always amazed at the size of their talons.

It circled overhead giving me time to get some pretty nice photos against a clear blue sky.

They can have a wing span of over 6 feet given a pretty impressive view when overhead.
