During the last two weeks I was fortunate to spend the part of four days with some William Kelley School students in Silver Bay. The Northern Lake County Arts Board asked that I present an artist-in-residence nature photography program for the fourth grade students. It was a lot of fun. We spent two days in the classroom, a portion of a day at Gooseberry Falls State Park and all day at Grand Portage State Park with Travis Novitsky, another North Shore photographer.
While returning from the field trips I encountered a couple of outdoor adventures. I noticed an ore boat cruising down lake and thought it might go behind an eagle nest I have been watching. I have tried to capture this shot with an ore boat in the background for three years. I only had about 30 seconds to make it work but it all came together.Fox Kit
While returning from Grand Portage I drove by an abandoned fox den that was in a previous “Photo of the Week”. I thought I saw a fox kit sticking its head out of the den. I turned around and sure enough the mom brought five of the fox kits back to the same den. This one posed just right for me.
