Aurora Borealis 001

We had not seen an aurora for several weeks. On Tuesday, I had already gone to bed when Karla came in and said that the northern lights were looking pretty nice. It didn’t take long for me to head out the door with my camera. The first two photos were taken from our front porch.

The moon was so bright it lit up the snow adding to the photos.

I drove down the road to our neighbor’s field. The northern lights were great as you looked down the road.

Next stop was the Cutface Wayside Rest. The lights of Grand Marais are in the background. Since most of Lake Superior is frozen right now the snow-covered ice brightened the photo. The clouds took on a pink glow under the bright moon. I couldn’t believe how fast the time went. I looked at my watch and it was 2:00 a.m. so I headed home.

As I got home the aurora seemed to brighten so I took one last photo from our porch overlooking our pond before going back to bed.
