Hoar frost is somewhat rare so I grabbed my camera to capture some of the wintery white scenes. I knew I had only a few hours before the sun and wind would melt the beautiful ice crystals and the landscape would change.
A foggy night is required for hoar frost. As the temperature drops the water vapor freezes into ice crystals and hang from all the tree branches and shrubs. In the dense woods the ice crystals give the magical feeling of an enchanted forest.
