Great Smoky Mountains National Park 001
On our way to Georgia this last week to celebrate our granddaughter’s birthday, we stopped off at Great Smoky Mountains National Park for a couple of days. The weather was beautiful. It was hot down in the valleys but on top of the mountains it was in the 70’s. The sky was so blue as we drove up the mountain.

The next morning I got up before 5:00 AM so I could get to the top of Clingmans Dome well before sunrise. Only two other people were there to watch the sunrise. When I first got there the stars were out and it was such a peaceful setting.
Out of the thousands of visitors in Gatlinburg I was surprised that only three of us wanted to see the sunrise. The view of the valley below was spectacular even before the sun came up. Fontana Lake was covered with fog. I took a panoramic photo in order to capture the full beauty of the valley below.
