Moonrise over Split Rock 001

After leaving Two Harbors we stopped at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park to watch the moon rise in front of the historic lighthouse. When we arrived we discovered that the light was on which added to the ambiance of the evening.

Several campers lined up along the shore to watch as the moon rose above the horizon.

Normally there are dozens of photographers taking photos of the moonrise but last night I had it all to myself. I didn’t see anyone else with a camera.

Rainbow over Agate Bay 001

We drove through another rain shower on our way to Two Harbors so the potential was there for a second one. We headed for the parking lot by the Edna G. tugboat in Agate Bay in hopes to see a rainbow over the harbor.

We weren’t there more than a minute when one of the brightest rainbows I have seen in some time ended next to the Edna G. A smaller second rainbow ended at the Two Harbors light. Both lasted for only about 10 minutes but seeing the reflections in the waters of Lake Superior was pretty magical.

Rainbow over HWY61

We saw two awesome rainbows yesterday. The first was a full rainbow on the expressway between Duluth and Two Harbors.
