We spent last week introducing our granddaughter to many of the winter adventures that Minnesota has to offer. Since she lives outside of Atlanta, Georgia she doesn’t get to enjoy the snow very often. She was fascinated with the ice along the shore of Lake Superior.

Some of the trees seemed to be decorated for Christmas with hundreds of icicles.

Sledding 001

She went sliding with her mother on the Grand Marais sliding hill.

With the fresh snow flying everywhere she was full of giggles. A little snow in the face didn’t seem to bother her.

Addie had never snow shoed before and she couldn’t believe that she could walk on top of the snow.

She really enjoyed going in and out of the snow covered spruce trees.

She was willing to hike up the Caribou Rock snowshoe trail to the beautiful overlook where she could see across West Bearskin Lake. We stopped just short of going into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. She can’t wait to return next winter and explore some new areas. She will be back for a visit this summer and has already asked if we can make plans to go canoeing while she is here.
