Burnt Lake Campsite

We were fortunate to spend the last three days in the beautiful Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. August is usually the best month for favorable weather conditions and the least amount of bugs.

Early Morning Light

One of my favorite parts of a BWCAW trip is to wake up early, sit at the edge of your campsite and watch the morning unfold in front of you. The added benefit is that there are usually loons calling in the background. This trip we had plenty of calm waters and loons calling in the background.

This might look like fog in this photo but it is smoke from the campfire as we were preparing to dive into a plate full of pancakes with fresh picked raspberries on top.

Many people say they don’t want to do a BWCAW trip because of the portaging involved. Don’t let that stop you. Most of the portages are short and easy to maneuver.
