Golden Aspens

This year the Aspen have exceptional color. I thought with the dry conditions that the colors wouldn’t be as vibrant this year but I was wrong. I think the Aspen will be colorful for another week barring any storms.

Oberg Mountain Hiking Trail 001

Karla and I had relatives up from Kansas this week so we got a chance to bring them to some of our favorite spots to see the fall colors at their finest. We hiked up Oberg Mountain which I think is the premier spot on the North Shore to see the reds and oranges of the maples.

Rengo Road Grand Portage

We spent some time at Grand Portage driving some of the back roads including the Rengo road which is covered with a canopy of maples.

Sumac Leaves Grand Marais Overlook

The bright sunny days have produced a color combination in the Sumac that I have never seen before.

View From Mt Josephine Grand Portage

A new overlook has been constructed on Mt Josephine so that you can get a beautiful view of the Susie Islands and Isle Royale in the background.
