The feel of fall is in the air. The whitetail fawns are now almost the size of their moms and their spots are starting to fade.

A week ago when I looked out the window I saw a family of deer in our pond.

I thought they were just drinking water but when I went outside to take some photos I was surprised to see them chowing down on the fragrant water lilies.

I knew moose ate water lilies but didn’t know that deer liked them also. One of the fawns chewed off the top and when he looked at me it looked like he was drinking water through a straw and made for a humorous photo.

They didn’t seem to be bothered by my presence until we all heard some noise from back in the woods. The mom became quite alert and took her kids in the opposite direction. I think it was the black bear that has been cruising around our property.
