Driving into town to do some errands I saw waves coming over the break wall. I walked out on the cliff to watch as waves collided with the rocky shoreline. I had left my camera in the car thinking that I would just watch for awhile. The wind wasn’t that strong but a storm out on the lake must have created a big enough disturbance to produce some pretty impressive waves.Lake Superior Waves 002
The waves got bigger as I watched so I went back to the car for my camera. Several people were standing in the same spot so I told the gentleman next to me that I was going to get my camera. He was new to Lake Superior and was just mesmerized watching each wave break on the rocks below. When I returned I found him drenched from spray. He was concentrating on the waves hitting the rocks in front of him and didn’t see the larger rogue wave that came from the side. He was hit by the spray as it exploded upon impact. It didn’t seem to bother him as he was laughing about it. I was sure glad that I wasn’t there with my camera in hand at the time.
