Rosebush Creek

I have wanted to photograph Rosebush Creek southwest of Grand Marais for some time but it has been so dry for most of the year that there hasn’t been enough water coming over the falls to make it interesting.

This week we had two days of steady rain so Wednesday morning with its damp foggy conditions seemed like a good opportunity to get some photos. All of the colorful leaves have fallen but this quaint little falls surrounded by cedars is still worth seeing.

Three-toothed Cinquefoil

After photographing the falls I hiked along the shoreline and found some very colorful Three-toothed Cinquefoil living in a crack in the rock. In the late fall, their leaves turn such a vibrant red that it added a splash of color to the rock ledges.
