Fragrant Water-Lily 001

Every summer seems to be a good growing season for certain individual species of plants. It doesn’t seem to matter the amount of rain or the temperature. This year it is the fragrant water-lily. Over the years, they have multiplied in the pond behind our house.

They have platter-like floating leaves and numerous tapering petals. Just like their name implies they are very fragrant.

This growing season seems to be ideal for them. There must be over 300 blooms that have appeared in the last two weeks.

I love sitting on the swing beside the pond watching the dragon flies and other critters busily feeding around the tops of these lilies.
