Bird Feeder

With the snow covered ground and lower temperatures the bird feeder has been a very busy spot.

One of the more colorful birds that I like to watch is the male pine grosbeak.

We currently have about two dozen that are frequenting our feeders. They make for great pictures when they perch on the snow covered spruce branches.

Red Fox

When you feed birds it seems to attract a lot of other critters. Mice and squirrels come in to feed on the seeds. They are usually followed by predators like the pine martin, bobcat and fox who are always looking for a nice well fed squirrel. This red fox has been coming around at night but with the colder temperatures she ventured close during the daylight hours. This time of year their fur is so thick that it gives them a beautiful appearance. In this photo she is watching a red squirrel on the other side of the yard.
